Spring break is a time of fun and relaxation for students across the country, with family vacations or many fun camps to choose from. Unfortunately for some Springfield youth, their parents can’t afford vacations or camps or don’t have transportation or time to get them to parks. The Springfield Civic Association changed that for one lucky student by funding a scholarship to Lake Accotink and TrailsforYouth.Org’s (TYO) week long Adventure Race Camp.
Local business Metro Run and Walk also provided scholarship funding for youths. TYO provided transportation and nutrition to all the youth participating in the program that needed it and staffed the weeklong camp with volunteers and equipment.
